D.A.R.E. Program, the La Vergne Rotary is planning for the largest D.A.R.E./Rotary
Car, Truck and Bike Show ever!

The show runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2009. New for this year is a
showcase of “Bikes”. The event will take place at Veteran’s Memorial Park, 115 Floyd
Mayfield Drive in La Vergne, Tenn. and is free and open to spectators. Waylon Jennings’
General Lee will also be at the event.

Cost for car entry is $15 per vehicle for pre-registration and $20 per vehicle the day of the show, and there are a number of different categories including 40s and below, 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and newer, Corvettes, Trucks 70s and below, Trucks 80s and above, Hot Rods, Imports, Donks, Motorcycle Cruisers and Sport Bikes. There will also be trophies for Most Unique, Best Overall, Mayor’s Choice and Police Pick. Tire World, a Cadillac sponsor, and Cardinal Health, a Luxury sponsor, are the two main sponsors of this year’s event. Different sponsor levels exist including Luxury ($500 and above), Sedan ($300- $499) and Compact ($100 to $299). Every sponsor will get a vendor booth, but each booth size will depend on the level given.

The Car, Truck and Bike Show has become one of the most anticipated events in Middle Tennessee with more than 200 bikes, cars and trucks showing up to compete for trophies and the bragging rights of having the best vehicle in Middle Tennessee.

The Car Show benefits not only our local schools but also the La Vergne Police Department’s D.A.R.E. program, which teaches fifth graders the dangers of drugs and encourages them to stay off them as they progress through life.

“Live” Music will be entertaining the folks who will spin 1950’s to current music. Door prizes will be given away throughout the day as well. For more information, contact Mike Slinker at mike.slinker@cardinal.com

The La Vergne Rotary Club is a member of Rotary International, one of the largest civic organizations in the world – encompassing over 162 countries worldwide.

For the third straight year, the LaVergne Rotary Club has supported the LaVergne Primary School by donating back packs and school supplies for use by children that are unable to afford them.

Atlas Program Director Laura Schofield said, “The Rotary Club never ceases to amaze us here at LaVergne Primary. They have really been a blessing for their assistance.”

Club coordinator for this project was past president Jennifer Pierce, who has really taken the cause to heart. “This was one project that Jennifer really wanted to be in charge of,” says current president Mack Barrett.” And she has done a great job with it.”

Mack Barrett, President of the LaVergne Rotary Club, authorized the official launch of LaVergneRotaryClub.org, the club’s official website today. The Board of Directors and President Barrett have been deliberating on the move, and decided that now the timing was right. The website will be a great tool for promoting club activities and events. It also serves as a Public Relations center – a place for the citizens of LaVergne to learn more about their Rotary Club, and what Rotary is doing for the community.

“The LaVergne Rotary Club is taking a leadership role”, says Ken Ivey of MidTN Technology, a Murfreesboro web design firm. “While many individual Rotarians are early adopters of technology, clubs as a whole have yet to embrace a web presence as a means to promote Rotary involvement in their communities. LaVergne is definitely leading the pack.”

Currently, only 30% of Rotary Clubs in District 6760 have websites.
